Tailored designs to solve unique shading challenges in commercial, hospitality, government, and residential applications
Horiso offers innovative shading solutions tailored to enhance both functionality and style in any space.
Provides exceptional solar control with manual or automated options for internal and external use. Horizontal blades can be tilted to optimise both the view as well as heat control. When not required, the blind can be fully retracted.
Ideal for sloped and shaped glazing, offering non-retractable sun shield solutions that are wind-rated and able to provide coverage of odd-shaped windows such as triangular or trapezoidal.
Fabric-based retractable shading systems for horizontal and sloped glazing, designed for superior light control
Horiso Specialty Venetian Blinds control. maintain and optimise natural interior conditions making them an energy efficient, environmentally-friendly shading option.
The tilting slats are able to provide the optimal amount of daylight, minimising the need for artificial lighting. Simultaneously, slats limit air-conditioner usage by maintaining effective airflow across the internal living / work space and reducing overall solar heat gain. They are also able to control solar glare thus maintaining optimal comfort for the occupant both residential and or commercial.
Horiso Specialty Venetian Blinds are engineered to cater for differing architectural design requirements. They are suitable for both internal and external applications and can be independently controlled via remote or integrated to building management systems such as Control 4, CBUS or Horiso’s own follow the sun technology.
It stands to reason that if you stop the heat and or cold before it hits the building façade; this has to be much more efficient than trying to push heat or cold back out again! Science tells us that up to 93% of thermal heat can be efficiently reflected using Horiso External Venetian blinds but common sense tells us this makes absolute sense
Horiso Speciality Venetian blinds are available in widths up to 6m and 9m drops and can be operated manually or automatically.
The horizontal slats can be made of either aluminium or timber and do require maintenance over time depending on the material and location.
Typically, Venetian blinds are mounted into a recess or within standard horiso pelmet. A pelmet or recess serves to hide the working element of the blind as well as conceal the stack when the blind is fully retracted.
The external Venetian blinds are stabilised by wire guides that must be at each outer end as well as every three metres, Eg If the blind was 5 meters wide, a centre cable would be required. As part of the service we provide the position of the centre cable is aligned with a solid element of the window such as a mullian. The bottom of the wire guide must be fixed in place and tensioned. There are six different mounting options for the bottom swage
The double omega puncing combined with ladder braids, ensures smooth closing of the slats. They also retain alignment and stability in most weather conditions. Slats are pre-treated in AA 5050 marine grade chromated undercoat with high UV resistant (RUV3) Polyester coating. Slats can be either solid or perforated and range in width of 80 or 100mm. There are eight standard colours.
Depending on location it s required to wash away salt spray buildup on the slats to minimise corrosion and to put the blinds up in high winds.
Timber adds natural warmth and enables designers to incorporate or maintain organic elements to the building façade. Timber is sourced from sustainably managed forests complying with AS4707 – Product origination from certified forests through all phases of ownership.
Air and kiln drying processes stabilise the timber as well as to improve the adhesion of any coatings.
Slats are available in 63 mm and 86 mm widths.
Being a natural product, finished colours can vary from samples and likely change over time with increased exposure to the sun. If colour is to be retained then re-application of coating is required according to coating manufacture specifications.
Horiso pelmets are custom-made to accommodate the width and stack height of the speciality Venetian blind. The Internal width of the pelmet is 145mm however, the height can be customised by adding up to three 50mm extensions to the standard 150mm elevation.
Stack heights vary based on the width of the blade and the height of the blind. For example, a 2400 drop blind with 80mm blades would require a pelmet with two extensions to conceal the stacked blind however, if it was a 100mm bladed only a single extension would be required to conceal the blind.
The pelmet comes in two styles; one for face fix and the other for top fix and can be powder coated to any Dulux powder coating colour. Some colours or finishes do however attract a premium to the cost.
The wire guide is fixed at the bottom with a swage. This swage is attached directly below the bottom of the blind either to the face of the window or directly into the substrate. There are five options that vary from face fit to a drop-in concrete anchor.
Horiso external Venetian blinds can be controlled manually however mostly it is operated automatically due to the enhanced capabilities of easily adapting the blind to optimise performance through either handheld devices or via intelligent automation.
If operating an external blind manually, a crank handle is used. The suitability of this really depends on the location of the blind and importance to achieving optimised climate control.
The basic motorised version of the external Venetian blind can operate off a wall switch. This application is more for ease of use as many features cannot easily be incorporated such as wind control.
Mostly the Horiso external venetian blind is motorised with the inclusion of a Somfy RTS Mod/Var receiver. This not only enables control of the blind via a Somfy remote control but also to easily incorporate Somfy wind sensors as well as more intelligent controls such as Somfy timers and Somfy temperature sensors. The Mod/Var element provides very fine control over the blade tilt so as to.
Using Somfy Control and the Tahooma system, the Horiso external Venetian blind can be incorporated into an app with a much-enhanced level of control that can be applied from wherever you are in the world.
In addition to the Somfy-based controls, Horiso offers their own intelligent control systems that enable an entire façade of a building to moderate the tilt of the blades according to the direction that the blind is facing as well as the time of day, time of year and position of the earth’s surface. It can even incorpoarate impacts of more complex shadowing from neighbouring buildings! This is true intelligence and has the capability to maximising the control of heat and light to provide comfort and cost control to occupants.
For more advanced homes and commercial buildings that already are considering home automation systems or (BMS) such as Control 4, CBus, Pixi or Dynalight (to name a few) the Motorised Horiso External Venetian blind easily fits into the array of controls.
